Complaint Comments:
Progressive appraiser, Amy Rettew failed to leave a copy of appraisal with the shop(G&L Automotive), after retreiving photos of vehicle. She also failed to give a copy of appraisal, and vehicle appraisal(total loss)report to the customer, within the five(5) day allotted time allowed by the Act(367), both items were given to the customer shortly after 5:00 pm on Oct. 19, 2005 at their home, they received at that time a payment of $2057.72 and a guarantee of 1 week of rental car, they went from 10/07/05 to 10/19/05 without a vehicle due to this loss. Vehicle was inspected at G&L Automotive, on Oct. 11,2005 @ 10:45 am, thus a eight(8) day period of time elapsed between inspection and delivery of reports to customer. Progressive Ins. co. also deducted $680.00 from claimants agreed settlement amount of $ 2737.32 for the protective care and custody of vehicle by G&L Automotive. Progressive's represenative, Amy Rettew refused to pay claimant, until vehicle was recoverd by a Progressive representative(tow company). Said vehicle was recoverd from G&L Automotive, by Glenns towing on Oct. 19, 2005 at 4:10 pm. The Department of Insuance should seek immediate reimbusement of claimants loss of $680.00, as Progressive agreed that said claim #05-6871836- 03 was their responsability. The department should also find Progressive and their representative, guilty of violations to the Act367, the regulations of Act367, and the Unfair Insurance Practices Act, the violations are as follows, refusal to leave copy of appraisal, failure to sign, failure to leave reports with customer, inaccurate total loss evaluation, by deducting monies from agreed price. Please direct response to Gary McGarvey, c/o G&L Automotive, 600 N22nd Street Lebanon Pa. 17046, 717-272-3020, glm@kaley.net, thanks in advance, Gary.
