Mr. Panichelli was here on 6-28-06 for a supplemental inspection. He refused to pay for color sanding and buffing the loss vehicle, a 2006 1/2 Kia Optima, which was necessary to bring the vehicle to its pre-damaged condition. Mr. Panichelli claimed that the time needed to sand and buff was included in the refinish time. I asked him to show me the P-pages in his database to confirm his contention, but he was not able to produce the information, as no existing database includes color sanding and buffing as part of its refinish times. Confronted with this information, Mr. Panichelli still refused to pay for the necessary procedure, saying that Nationwide does not pay anyone in our market area for the procedure. He still refused to pay for the necessary procedure despite the fact that I showed him the refinished areas of the vehicle did not appear the same as the original areas, and the fact that I showed him the procedure in progress on the loss vehicle.
