Complaint Comments:
The insured sustained a loss to his vehicle on 11-20-06 when a bicycle hit it while parked along the right side, beginning with the fender. Four days later, on 11-24-06, the insured was in an accident damaging the right front of the vehicle. No inspection had been performed for the first loss at the time of the second loss. Although Nationwide took deductibles for each claim, they combined the accidents into one loss, in effect, by not listing overlapping damages for each loss. This was orchestrated by James Russell, even though Beth Walcome was the appraiser who inspected the vehicle for both losses at our shop on the same occasion. I spoke with Mr. Russell for more than a half hour regarding this behavior, but he refused to indemnify his insured properly for each loss. Nationwide reduced their loss exposure at the expense of their insured, and in addition, Mr. Russll, by his actions, did not allow Ms. Walcome to perform an independent appraisal.
