Complaint Comments:
William Haggerty arrived at our shop at 11:03am to go over damages to a 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche. He was handed the keys, pointed in the direction of the vehicle and asked to review the damages of his appraisal prior to locking his estimate. At around 11:15am William Haggerty placed a locked estimate on our front counter in the amount of $2,783.24. I asked William why he went ahead and locked his appraisal without reviewing it with me. He replied that "it's a pretty cut and dry estimate" and assured me that "there shouldn't be any need for a supplement because he has it all covered." (f) In addition to the requirements in section 11 of the act (63 P. S. § 861), an appraiser shall: '(3) Review the appraisal with an authorized representative of the repair shop which is selected by the consumer or with any other person reasonably necessary to demonstrate that the actual costs of repairs are adequately covered in the appraisal. William Haggerty's failure to review the appraisal with me and blatant disregard for the appraisers act will further inconvenience the consumer as well as cause delays in the repair process. A supplement was requested immediately, but we will have no choice but to wait the approximate 3-5 day window for someone to come out and review this appraisal with me. This could have all been avoided if William had acted in a professional manner instead of trying to tell me that his appraisal was sufficient.
