Complaint Comments:
Consumer Service, Our consumer Mr. Ralph Amichetti purchased an automobile insurance policy with Progressive Insurance Company with the understanding that if in the event of a loss he would experience a professional service which returned his damaged vehcle to its conditon prior to the loss and if needed he would be able to utilize the car rental portion of his policy. Progressive sent Mr. Stahl to appraise his damages and in the process Mr. Stahl used the opportunity to direct our consumer to a facility contracted with Progressive Insurance Company. Once Mr.Amichetti advised the appraiser he would be using our facility to repair his vehcle Mr. Stahl advised he would only be paying 5 days for rental. Mr. Amichetti explained to the Progressive appraiser that Crawford's could not begin repairs untill Feb 3, which would be approx two weeks and he would need a rental car for this period of time. Mr. Stahl advised our consumer to drive the vehcile in a damaged condition until Crawford's could begin the repairs. Mr. Amechetti was not comfortable driving his vehicle with a damaged headlamp assembly and he also complained about a steering difficulty. Mr. Stahl advised he would only allow rental for 5 days and Progressive had shops in the area that could repair Amichetti's repair immediately and if Crawford's could not then he should have his vehicle repaired at Grand Sport Auto Body. Mr. Amichett contacted Stahl's supervisor Mr. Tom Kerchner #610-430-3149 to complain about the manner in which Stahl was handling his claim. Kerchner explained the 5 days would stand and Amichetti could have his vehicle repaired at the Progressive DRP shop. Tom Kerchner advised Amichetti that Progressive has problems with Crawford's Auto Center and Amichetti should take his vehicle to Grand Sport if not then Amichetti would not be able to utilize his full coverage in the policy which allows up to 30 days car rental. Both Mr. Stahl and Mr. Kerchner made attempts to Steer and Direct Mr. Amichetti into a Progressive's DRP shop. This is a violation of Pennsylvania State Law and Regulation .'' Fact: Mr. Amichette purchased an automobile insurance policy which states he is entitled to coverage up to 30 days car rental reimbursement. Nowhere in Progressive's policy does it stipulate repairable time or how many days Progressive will allow in the event of a collison loss. It is obvious Progressive is using their rental reimbursement to manipulate consumers into their DRP network of repairs shops. This is a violation of Pennsylvania State Law and Regulation. Inaddition to this concerns is our consumer's right have been manipulated by his insurance company and the Pa. Insurance Department needs to get involved and resolve the rental issue.' Please contact our consumer Mr. Amichetti and discuss Progressive's method of handling his claim. Thank You, Steohen Behrndt
