Complaint Comments:
To Whom It May Concern: We have two separate complaints that are related and wish to file them separately to show a pattern of slander that has been perpetrated by a Nationwide appraiser named Bill Bubka. In early July, our customer, April Watson, brought her car in for repairs on her 2010 Mazda 3. Nationwide Insurance sent out William Bubka to write the estimate. He reviewed the estimate with my manager Bill Bacon. During the course of reviewing what Mr. Bubka wrote, Bill was questioning why he wasn't paying for a number of procedures, line by line, as is done during the negotiation of every appraisal that comes through our shop. After several minutes of negotiation, Mr. Bubka became frustrated with the process and accused Bill of making his job more difficult than necessary. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Bubka made a phone call to Mike Piazza Honda, to their Body Shop Coordinator, Ron Dworsky. This is relevant because several years ago Piazza closed their shop, and because of our reputation as a quality-minded collision shop, they approached us to do their work. This relationship has been ongoing now for about three years, with both Piazza and Hunt satisfied with the result of our merger. Mr. Bubka's purpose of calling Piazza was to tell Ron Dworsky that Hunt Auto Body was expensive and that we were difficult to get along with. Mr. Dworsky asked him to which claim he was referring. Mr. Bubka provided the information and Mr. Dworsky's response was that the vehicle was a Mazda, not a Honda, and that it had nothing to do with Mike Piazza Honda and, therefore, did not understand the purpose of the call. Immediately thereafter, Ron called to inform me of the call he had gotten from Mr. Bubka. I was stunned about his behavior in trashing my business to a completely unrelated entity for no reason other than to affect my business relationship with Mike Piazza Honda. This is unacceptable behavior for any appraiser. I cannot afford to have my business slandered by a state-licensed appraiser who should be held to a certain level of behavior. Personality conflicts should never determine the outcome of any appraisal, nor should it be the reason my business gets bad mouthed. How many other shops, customers, and businesses have I been slandered to by Mr. Bubka? Sincerely, Mark C. Vettori President
