Complaint Comments:
State Farm wrote an estimate on Mrs. Greene's Impala to replace the rear bumper assembly using a salvage part. The vendor they choose was M&M Auto Parts from Bridgeport, Pa. I contacted M&M and spoke to Jimmy. I asked him since we have never done business before and will be a COD customer if he could make sure the part was undamaged. He called me back and said the bumper cover was indeed damaged. I thanked him and requested a supplement from State Farm. Mr. McAllister called our shop to do a desk review supplement. We informed him why we had requested a supplement and he then wanted to confirm our information with M&M. He then called back and said he had spoken to Wendy at M&M and she said there was nothing wrong with the part. He insisted we use the part and we ordered it on 3/9/12 The part came in on Monday 3/12/12 and as Jimmy had indicated the bumper cover was damaged from end to end. I took several pictures of the damaged part and reviewed it with M&M's driver. M&M did not want to break up the bumper assembly and sell the guts only. I asked for a copy of the invoice for State Farm. We contacted Mr. McAllister and he responded in a very unprofessional manner. He told us since we did not hold the bumper for State Farm to inspect he would not honor the supplement request for OEM parts. I feel this is an unfair settlement practice and it has prolonged the repair. This is an example of State Farms cost cutting attempts vs. common sense. M&M, Bryner and more importantly Mrs. Greene has suffered. Do you think State Farm will reimburse M&M for their gas and time? Do you think they will reimburse Mrs. Greene for her rental costs? I still do not have a resolution and the vehicle is sitting in our shop.
