Complaint Comments:
The customer was hit by a taxi cab, while the vehicle was parked on the street. She was not in the vehicle. The taxi driver accepted responsibility, stating that he was asleep behind the wheel. His insurance company was Pineland Insurance. They totaled the vehicle. They denied Ms. Reed a rental car during the negotiation process. She was without a car for over a week because the insurance company denied that she was owed one because it was a total loss. She incurred the hardship of being without a vehicle simply because her car was parked in the way of a sleeping taxi cab driver who was insured by Pineland Insurance. As far as the negotiation process goes, we were never given an estimate. An independent appraiser saw the vehicle, but we received nothing from him. Alderick Geffa never returned phone calls. We were never informed that they had the intent to cut off storage. They informed our customer, Ms. Reed, that they were paying 3 days storage and were adding it to her settlement check and she was to pay us. She notified us of their intent. The total storage they are paying is $150. Our invoice is for 12 days, not three. The breakdown is as follows: 12 days at $50 per day = $600 plus $75 for Administrative and Protective Care totaling $675. Pineland Insurance told Ms. Reed they were abandoning the vehicle, and she was responsible to have it removed from our shop. She had to find someone to remove it, rather than having the insurance company responsible for removing it, as is the law. Pineland Insurance handled every aspect of this claim in an unlawful way.
