Complaint - No Appraisal - On March 22, 2013, Mr. Joe Rosato (#143366 / 119034) from BRENTWOOD DAMAGE APPRAISERS signed in at our repair facility to inspect our customer's damaged vehicle at 11:15. Mr. Rosato was given permission to inspect the vehicle and he walked to the location of the vehicle took a series of photos and notes. Mr. Rosato left our facility @ 12:00. Mr. Rosato did not leave a copy of his appraisal as per the guidelines of the MVPDA. On March 22, 2013 Mr. Rosato sent us an email message stating that our customer's vehicle (IN HIS OPINION) would be declared a total loss however the insurance company would handle the total loss evaluation of the vehicle and they would be in communication with us. We have never received an appraisal of damages from Brentwood Appraisals. Mr. Rosato was shown our Authorization To repair Contract with our customer however has not recognized the consumer's representative as per state law. Please investigate our concerns and move forward with the proper enforcement and compliance of the state guidelines.' Pa State Law: b) The appraiser shall leave a legible copy of his appraisal with that of the repair shop selected by the consumer to make the repairs and also furnish a copy to the owner of the vehicle. This appraisal shall contain the name of the insurance company ordering it, if any, the insurance file number, the number of the appraiser's license and the proper identification number of the vehicle being inspected. All unrelated or old damage should be clearly indicated on the appraisal which shall include an itemized listing of all damages, specifying those parts to be replaced or repaired No appraiser shall secure or use repair estimates that have been obtained by the use of photographs, telephone calls or in any manner other than a personal inspection.
