Complaint Comments:
Bill Melcher wrote to replace the L/F Suspension with salvaged wearable parts. Including a strut, ball joints, bushings and wheel bearing. He also hit the owner with a betterment fee of $399.07 for the left front wheel. Melcher claimed the damage to the wheel was prior. It clearly was not prior and the damage was extensive to the chrome finish since it was the point of impact. The owner presented a date stamped photo of his vehicle clearly showing the wheel in good condition. Plus the replacement cost of the wheel was $345.00 so how did he arrive at $399.07 ?? I-CAR states to never use salvage bearings or bushings in a collision repair. This is an unsafe estimate and we replaced the parts with new forcing the owner to pay out of pocket. I asked if State Farm would sign a letter of liability release if we used the junk yard suspension parts? They said no way.
