Complaint Comments:
Department of Insurance: Progressive is in violation of Pa State Laws and Regulations. Vehicle was deemed a total loss and insurance company asked for charges. Charges were agreed on and check was issued and mailed to shop. Mike Reid from Progressive subsequently called and informed shop that payment was stopped on check as claimant was retaining salvage. Shop informed Progressive that claimant's retention of salvage does not influence shop's right to receive payment for accrued charges. In addition shop was paid for charges in exactly the same circumstances by Progressive in claim #18-5971723. Shop then called and spoke with supervisor, Kurt Huntzberry, and explained the above to him, but he refused to reissue payment. Progressive has no right to stop payment on an agreed-upon payment, even if the person issuing payment should not have made it, as the "master-servant" rule applies. Progressive owes the shop the payment no matter how one views the facts of this claim. Please investigate the above complaint and file enforcement actions against the wrongful Progressive Insurance representatives.
