Complaint Comments:
We filed a complaint with the PA Insurance Department (File #15-114-188104) regarding an estimate which was written through Allstate's Quick Foto claims process, which resulted in an estimate in the amount of $632.41 versus a final repair amount of $4,183.47. Consumers are not likely to provide sufficient photos to write an accurate appraisal, and the Motor Vehicle Physical Damage Appraisers Act clearly states that a licensed appraiser is prohibited from relying on photos alone for providing an appraisal. Although Allstate paid the final repair amount (through and original check and several supplements), the process would have been less cumbersome and time consuming had the original appraisal been more complete. This process not only tied up a bay in our shop for longer than it should have, but also wasted a lot of our time. A consumer is entitled to be compensated for the total cost of repairs, whether or not they repair their vehicle. This customer would not have received nearly enough compensation had she not had her vehicle repaired at a reputable facility.
