Complaint Comments:
DEPARTMENT OF INSURANCE, Our customer called GEICO Insurance Co. to report his claim and was told to go to the local Geico shop for his estimate and the repairs. Our customer explained that he was a customer of Crawford's Auto Center, Inc and had repairs performed at Crawford's in the past. His intentions were to go to Crawford's. The Geico claims rep explained that you can have your car repaired where ever you choose however independent shops will not guarantee their repairs and their paint will not match. If you use a Geico shop we will guarantee the repairs and our paint will match. Our customer scheduled his vehicle with us explained the way the Geico claim rep attempted to steer him into one of the Geico shops. This is a clear violation of Pa Sate Law and Consumer Protection Laws - Steering is illegal in Pa and coercing an insured into a Geico repair using tactics they mislead consumers is a violation of state law. Please investigate the behavior and conduct of GEICO Insurance claim representatives and enforce the necessary violations against the insurance company.
