DOI Please help our consumer with this claim. We called State Farm on 6/14/17 and spoke with a claim rep named JJ. We sent JJ the position statement from Honda. It states very clearly that it is the position of American Honda that ALL vehicles involved in a collision MUST have the following minimum diagnostic scans, inspections, and/or calibrations done to avoid improper repair. The shop MUST perform this operation or be liable for an unsafe repair. JJ agreed to pay for the scan and we released the vehicle. Today Mr. Fleming arrived at our shop only to tell us he refuses to pay for the scan and reversed JJ's decision. It is the position of State Farm that it is not necessary to perform this operation. The DOI has shown bias when it comes to our complaints but I think this is one we can agree on. If the OEM says this must be done and the shop follows the proper procedure State Farm owes the consumer payment. We have a legal obligation to scan and calibrate any OEM that requires it. We have been getting paid by every other insurance carrier except State Farm. I now have to bill the owner. I have also written to the Attorney General Josh Shapiro and State Representative Tom Murt.
