Complaint Comments:
Fran Jones inspected a vehicle at our shop for Ben Craig and wrote for a LKQ tail lamp and Aftermarket rear bumper cover. We ordered the LKQ tail lamp from their vendor but the aftermarket vendor will not deliver to us when we reached out to them, upon inspecting the LKQ lamp it was deemed not to be insurance quality so I sent a supplement request to Fran. I hadn't heard anything from Fran about the supplement so i reached out to the claim handler to see if I could find out when it was going to be inspected, that is when the claim handler told me that he had reached out to the customer and instructed them to put a claim in through their own carrier. Fran never reached out to the shop to discuss the supplement, and it was never communicated to him that we are refusing to order parts from any vendor. Fran took it upon himself to tell a claimant that they need to file through their carrier based on reasons that he created without any dialogue between the shop and MR. Jones, this type of behavior is extremely unprofessional and violates § 146.8. Standards for prompt, fair and equitable settlements applicable to automobile insurance. (a) Insurers may not recommend that third-party claimants make claim under their own policies solely to avoid paying claims under the insurer’s insurance policy or insurance contract.
