Complaint Comments:
On October 3rd, 2005 Konstantina Hronis brought to us her vehicle. She had a copy of an appraisal done at her home. We took that appraisal and called for a supplement. We got a response on the 5th that someone would be out on the 6th. On October 6th around 2pm we meet Al Stewart. He was assigned to do the supplement. He started to discuss the repairs in question and stated to us he would need the doors outer panel removed to see the door shell frame damage. We cut the outer panel off and showed him the damage to the shell of the door. He felt that the extent of the damage was not related to the loss and disputed paying the claim. He stated to us that he would have to investigate this and get back to us later. We did not receive an appraisal until the 7th around 9am. After Al Stewart not paying for the necessary repairs to put this vehicle back to preloss condition. We asked him what to do next. He stated to us that he sent Mrs. Hronis a letter stating that mitigation of damages is an absolute requirement. So Mrs. Hronis was left no choice but to have her insurance company get involved. We had Encompass settle the claim so Mrs. Hronis would not have any out of pocket expense. As a shops standpoint we were left no choice but to bill Mrs. Hronis for the expense created by Mr. Al Stewarts conduct, which was detrimental to the claim. This vehicle was in our protective care and custody for seven days, where we could not work on this vehicle. This vehicle was all apart and was taking up space in a productive repair bay. This loss of space cannot be replaced. This vehicle could not be moved outside due to the exposure to the outside elements. There were billable services that were provided that were not compensated by Mrs. Hronis insurance carrier. The expense to negotiate with Liberty Mutual, also the time spent on an administrative needed to be addressed. If the door replacement procedure would have been agreed upon, we would not had to cut off the outer panel. Al Stewart created a lot of unnecessary hardship for Mrs. Hronis and GA Collision Center.
