On June 7th 2011 we spoke to Lu Ann Morgan in regards to the repairs on her 2001 Mercury Sable, so she could schedule the vehicle for repairs. Mr.'s Morgan said they received a check for $2709.00. When we asked them to bring the estimate from State Farm they said there was no estimate accompanying the check. We told her that wasn't a problem and that we would call on her behalf to get a copy. After calling State Farm and getting transferred three times we finally spoke to a Sarah in the total loss unit. At first she said that it was a total loss then as she read the notes said wait it says here that we deemed it repairable through the in house claims dept. When we asked again for a copy of the estimate she said she would have to discuss it with her boss first. She then went on to try to steer the vehicle by saying We will have the customer take the vehicle to one of our service first shops and have them do a tear down to determine if it is a total loss. We told Sarah that ultimately it's the customer's choice on where she wants to take the car to be repaired and Mr.'s Morgan had already chosen Hunt Auto Body as its repair facility. Shortly thereafter Sarah called back to let us know that in fact the vehicle was repairable. We told her that we had a signed document from the customer that states Mr.'s Morgan gives us permission for State Farm to send us a copy of the estimate on her behalf. Sarah still refused and said the customer has to contact State Farm to have the estimate sent out if they want copy. We asked her again are you not supposed to supply a copy to the customer as is stated by the Appraisal act she said yes we were suppose to but now the customer has to contact us if they want a copy. We faxed a copy of the signed document from the customer anyway and also quoted the appraisers act in regards to supplying an estimate. As of today, June 8th we still have not received a copy of the repair estimate as per instruction by the customer. Your immediate assistance is requested. Thank you
