Complaint Comments:
Complaint Comments: To:The Pennsylvania Department of Insurance: On November 22, 2006 our consumer was involved in an auto accident that damaged the left front end of his 1997 Honda Accord. This vehicle sustained serious suspension and light body damages to the extent it could not be driven. His vehicle was towed to our repair facility where we provided the vehicle owner with a damage repair analysis and estimated repair schedule. Our consumer advised he is a claimant against USAA Insurance Co. and they are responsible for his damages. USAA had contacted him and accepted liability for the damages to his vehicle and would be making arrangements to inspect the loss. On November 27, 2006 a Mr. John Cordisco contacted our repair facility and advised he would be stopping by our facility to inspect the damages to our consumer's Honda. Due to a long history of unprofessional behavior with this state licensed appraiser we requested Mr. Cordisco reassign the claim to another appraiser. History: Mr. Cordisco was previously employed by Nationwide Insurance Company as a staff appraiser in the Chester County region. On behalf of our consumers our facility filed numerous complaints against his market conduct with the Department of Insurance. These consumer complaints are on record with the DOI and represent the Directing and Steering of consumers and underpayment of necessary items for proper collision repairs. In July 1998 Mr. Cordisco was personally responsible for forcing the removal of a consumer's vehicle which was under repair at our facility and directing the partially repaired vehicle to another local repair facility. Mr. Cordisco compensated our facility with 2 separate checks prior to the removal of this vehicle. The first check reimbursed our facility's labor necessary to partially repair the vehicle and the second check was issued to cover our charges for protective care & custody. The second check Mr. Cordisco issued to our facility did not clear our bank due to Nationwide Insurance Co. issuing a stop-pay against the payment. Shortly after this incident Mr. Cordisco left Nationwide Insurance Company and accepted a position with Grand Sport Auto Body. In his capacity as Shop Manager, it appeared that Cordisco conspired with various insurance company personnel to coerce unaware consumers to remove their damaged vehicles from our repair facility to the Direct Repair environment of his employer. Due to this history of unprofessional behavior and disregard for Pennsylvania State Law and Regulations we requested Mr. Cordisco reassign the claim and not visit our repair facility. Mr. Cordisco refused to reassign said claim and advised that USAA Insurance Company would not be sending anyone else to our facility. This is a violation of Pennsylvania State Law & Regulation as follows - Violation > 62.4 (g) "There are no provisions of the act or this chapter which shall be construed as intended in any way to prohibit or limit the subsequent appraisal or reappraisal of damage by different licensed appraisers, if desired by any of the involved parties." Mr. Cordisco contacted our consumer and advised him (steered & directed) to have the vehicle removed from our repair facility to another collision repair facility in our immediate area which is the same Grand Sport Auto Body where Mr. Cordisco was previously employed as a body shop manager. Our consumer followed Mr. Cordisco's instructions and requested his vehicle removed from our facility to the other repair shop for repairs. It appears that Mr. Cordisco has conspired to steer our consumer away from our facility with the same malice he used for years working at Nationwide Insurance Company. When we discussed this situation with Mr. Cordisco he laughed at our allegations and advised USAA has assigned him to inspect vehicles in our area and would not be sending anyone else. Clearly the DOI can see the unprofessional behavior and negative market conduct ongoing with this state licensed appraiser and USAA Insurance Company. Please investigate our concerns and enforce the necessary violations against this appraiser. Thank You, Stephen Behrndt Crawford's Auto Center, Inc.
