Complaint Comments:
Pennsylvania Department Of Insurance: Yesterday we sent a compalaint to the Department of Insurance regarding a viloation of Motor Vehicle Physical Damage Appraisal Act 367 Title 63, Chapter 22B Sec. 11 (b)& (c) "(b) The appraiser shall leave a legible copy of his appraisal with that of the repair shop selected by the consumer to make the repairs and also furnish a copy to the owner of the vehicle." We were contaced by the Department regarding this complaint and advised they would investigate our concerns. (c) No appraiser shall secure or use repair estimates that have been obtained by the use of photographs." Today the same Nationwide appraiser Kris Kapusta stopped by our repair facility @ 9:50 AM walked in the front door handed a copy of his appraisal to our front desk person and told her to give this to Steve. He abruptly left our bussiness without reviewing the apprasal with the repair shop which is a violation of Pennsylvania's MVPA - Reg.: '"(3) Review the appraisal with an authorized representative of the repair shop which is selected by the consumer or with any other person reasonably necessary to demonstrate that the actual costs of repairs are adequately covered in the appraisal." Our consumer's vehicle sustained its damage on August 3, 2002 and is still going through the repair process as of Oct 2, 2002. This repair should have only taken approxamately 3 weeks to be fully repaired. Nationwide's appraiser has manipulated the process to slow down this consumer's claim in everyway possible to punish our consumer for selecting a collision repair facility operating outside of Nationwide's Blue Ribbon repair program. We request you contact our consumer Mr. Thomas Cooke and request his opinion of Nationwide's handling of claim. Mr. Cooks can be contacted @ 610-363-9450 (daytime). This mathod of handling claims is in violation of the Commonwealth's Law & regulation that administer the responsibility of the state licensed appraiser. Steve Behrndt 610-269-1610'
