Complaint Comments:
Department Of Insurance: This complaint is filed against Mr. Jim Master of Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. On 4/6/11 Mr. Master inspected our customer's 2001 Mercedes Benz C320 and declared the vehicle a total loss. We disputed the loss and requested a copy of the total loss evaluation which proved our position that the damages did not exceed the value of the vehicle. If it were not for our experience and understanding of the appraisal process Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. would have benefited by settling our customer's vehicle at lower than market value and possibly receiving a higher than market salvage value. After Mr. Master re-inspected our customer's vehicle, Liberty reversed their position and considered it a repairable vehicle which we in fact repaired. Today is 4-25-11 and Mr. Master has stopped by to pay the final invoice for the repairs. Mr. Master has signed in at 11:20AM however at approximately 1:00PM Mr. Master left our parking lot without leaving a copy of his final appraisal or final payment. Mr. Master did in fact take photos of our customer's vehicle in a repaired ready for delivery condition. Without a final appraisal document we have no idea the amounts Liberty Mutual is prepared to settle the claim. Please investigate the manner in which Liberty Mutual Insurance Company is advising their staff appraisers to behave in the collision repair marketplace. This complaint is being sent at 2:38 PM and we have not seen Mr. Master return. Thank You, Stephen Behrndt President, Crawford's Auto Center, Inc.
