Complaint Comments:
Ms. Walcome inspected the loss vehicle on 11-15-06. The appraisal contained a cap, or threshold on paint materials, of $335. The actual amount of paint materials using Nationwide's own estimating system should have been $487.20. Ms. Walcome added an additional $85 to the estimate, but said she was not authorized to pay any more for materials. The paint and materials were therefore underpaid by $67.20. Ms. Walcome said that Nationwide did not have any information to present that proved the legitimacy of their position. I explained to her that if I presented proof of the cost of materials used to repair the loss vehicle, Nationwide would actually pay far in excess of the amount generated by using their $21 per hour material rate without the cap. She also confirmed my belief that Nationwide will not pay any additional material cost regardless of any documentation I might produce. This is the same issue that was discussed with Diane Koken in our meeting of May 2004, and that was again discussed in our meeting with Ron Gallagher on October 24, 2006. This problem was also addressed in my complaints dated October 4 and October 13, 2006, neither of which have been resolved to date.
