Complaint Comments:
Mr. Pague inspected the loss vehicle initially on 2-13-06. At that time, I pointed out to him that the damage to the left front fender was greater than he thought, and that additional time was needed, in addition to refinishing the fender in full. He changed the repair time slightly, but not sufficiently for a proper repair. I called for a supplement after our bodyman had partially repaired the fender, but before repairs were completed, to show more precisely the true extent of the damage to that panel. Mr. Pague re-inspected the vehicle on 2-27-06, but refused to allow more repair time for the fender, or full refinishing, saying that because the repairs were initiated before State Farm viewed the vehicle for the supplement, we "compromised" his ability to view the damage, and he therefore refused to honor the supplement request. When I pointed out to him that he did inspect the vehicle prior to our beginning repairs (at the initial inspection), but did not see the true extent of the damage at that time, he said that the consumer had two choices at : to have another shop repair the vehicle, or to pay the difference out of her own pocket. He also said that "State Farm estimates allow enough payment to properly repair the vehicle in the marketplace, and that other shops in this market will repair the vehicle for the amount of the appraisal". Mr. Pague's statement indicates that he is not preparing a proper appraisal without external influence.
