Department of Insurance Re: Violation of Steering and Directing a Consumer - Our customer’s vehicle was struck in the back end by a Progressive Insured. Progressive accepted 100% liability for the repair cost and transportation cost required for the repairs on this vehicle. Our customer signed our Contract of repair / Repair Contract and we agreed to a date when he could drop off his vehicle. One Jan 21, 20026 our customer dropped off his vehicle for the repair process. That afternoon we received an email from a Progressive Insurance Company appraiser named George Michael Franciotto that our customer had changed his mind and was allowing Progressive to move his vehicle to another repair facility. When we contacted our customer, he explained that was not true and that he was concerned of additional cost that the Progressive appraiser told him it would cost to have his vehicle repaired at our facility. Please be advised, the Progressive appraiser is coercing and intimidating our customer into moving his vehicle based on a prior experience he has experienced at Crawford’s Auto Center, Inc. which has no relevance on the repairs to our customer's vehicle. The Progressive appraiser is in violation of states laws that protect a consumer’s rights please see (Law, Title 63 Chapter 22B – Regulation Pa Code Title 31, Chapter 62). If a consumer chooses to have his repairs performed by a particular repair shop that is his choice and the insurance company must abide by that choice. Progressive insurance made an attempt to use our charges to steer the customer away from our facility prior to inspecting the customer’s loss. This is not the first situation we have experience with Progressive Insurance trying to direct our customers away from our repair service. Progressive has accepted 100% liability for the repairs to our customer's vehicle which represents a legal responsibility to pay for the cost to repair our customers vehicle based on the original manufacture’s repair guidelines. The Progressive Motor Vehicle Physical Damaged Appraiser is in violation of the state laws and regulation that are written to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth. Please investigate this complaint and file violations against the appraiser and the insurance company he works for to assure that this anti-consumer activity is stopped immediately.
